Visual expressions of private wishes of the heart and the spells that can maybe make them come to pass.
The series is a play on our innate fascination with symbols and our inclination to imbue them with the ability to hold and convey meaning to unseen powers. Constructed as repeatable formulas, geometry is the language of the spells, iteration and intuition guide the discovery of the “right” visual formula, time and attention are the sacrificial offerings. Work on the Spells began in Paris in 2023. The drawings in this series are developed as artist’s original multiples, limited edition of five in two sizes – two at 7-7/8×7-7/8in (21x21cm) and three at 12x12in (31x31cm).
